Types of Marketing Videos and Which You Should Produce

What should I make?

No matter the type of business you run, you will find yourself asking that question: What videos should I make to grow my business? From paid ads to social media content to content marketing across digital and print, here are some tips to help, gleaned from my 15 years in content marketing and branded content at Netflix, PopSugar, Us Weekly and TV news. Something to keep in mind - always try to think of how this can help the viewer, don’t try to ‘sell.’ (They can smell the ‘sell’)

PRODUCT VIDEOS
Show people how your product can be used. This can be a live action (meaning a regular person using the product), it can be stop motion, it can have your product stead with the camera moving around it. On-screen recorded demonstration videos are also a part of this. They can range from very simple to much more complicated with premium graphics and music. But most importantly, they should clearly demonstrate the product’s benefits and how to use it.

EXPLAINER VIDEOS
Why is your product or service awesome? This is a way to dig in and give more meaning. These videos can also range from simple graphics and photos to more complex custom animation. I have produced marketing videos including gorgeous and fun  stop motion, lighthearted wipe board, but simple videos can be just as effective! Regardless of the budget there is a way to execute.

TESTIMONIAL VIDEOS
Show don’t tell. Even better - have your happy clients show don’t tell! Ask your clients to record videos about how great you or product is. This is incredible promotion for your company, because the experience of hearing from another human is very effective.

Nothing lights me up like a brainstorm - if you need help developing a content strategy (aka ‘what should I make to grow my business’!) drop me an email!
