How to be a Content Powerhouse

It’s a struggle for many businesses: how can I create a lot of content marketing - videos, photos, blogs, newsletters - while still running my business? Here are my tips on how to create lots of content easily whether you’re a solopreneur or a small or medium sized business (or a publisher for that matter!). I’ve done this for large brands at Us Weekly with a team of 10 and Netflix film shoots and for professionals who are doing it alone - like real estate agents and lawyers.

1. Have a North Star
Have a clear vision of your client and your message. Who is your target audience? What type of content are you creating? Answer these questions early on to prevent yourself from wasting money and time on content that won't meet your goals. Be ruthless - don't get distracted! Social trends will come and go but focused messaging will continue to bring you value.

2. Have a versatile team
Social platforms and algorithms change. You need people who can pivot and change and learn, when you’re hiring try to find people who are flexible in their skillest. If you’re the person responsible for all the marketing, then stay up-to-date on the latest changes and how you can optimize your content regularly.

3. Build foolproof systems
You want a great system in place so you don’t reinvent the wheel for each video. Have a turnkey system. You’re trying to get it as close to being a one-step process. A simple system can be a phone and a ring light that is set up in the corner or your office or a video camera in a full studio with lights. Regardless - make it easy, so you’re not wasting a lot of time setting up and breaking down! Next you’ll move towards ‘batch creation’ of your content. Meaning when you sit down, try to film as many pieces of content as you can (before fainting from dizziness or falling asleep!).

Congrats, you’re one step closer to growing your business through incredible content marketing, attracting the right clients and sending the RIGHT message for your brand.
