What to film to pitch the press
No dancing or pointing! Videos for social media with trending sound do nothing to help a producer get to know you. A producer who is considering booking you on a TV show needs to hear your voice, understand what you may say, and see that you’re an expert, and an expert that is comfortable speaking on camera. So if you’re filming a lot of videos with you lip syncing or dancing, make sure to vary your social media content to feature yourself. This is good advice to follow regardless, because if you’re trying to build relationships with clients, they should get to hear your voice.
What footage helps you get featured on TV
You will need to film “b-roll,” the footage you see that tells a story besides a person talking. You should be filming this content for your social media video anyway, but this can also double as b-roll. For example, for a video related to your business, you would film yourself working, meeting with clients, planning your day. If your story involves your kids you would also have some footage related to being a working parent.
